On occasion, I visit carpet cleaning blogs (Yeah, I know) mainly to keep track of trends and potential new environmentally safe cleaning solutions and methods. We also help each other as a free consulting communication type forum. Its a good deal for all really. I am always surprised when these men share the amount of water they go through when cleaning carpets using the HWE method of carpet cleaning.
One gentlemen reported on the forum that he had just cleaned a 3 room house with hall and living room, and had to replace his 13 gallon water tank 7 to 8 times. This means he used about one hundred gallons or more of water.
Now, it is impossible to vacuum up all the 100 gallons of water and solution he sprayed into the carpet. At even a 95% recapture rate, there would be 5 gallons of water that was left in the carpets to dry. Thats a gallon of water a room! My low moisture system cleans carpet fibers and would use less solution that this gentlemens system leaves behind after he is done.
I will say again, there will always be a need for HWE, but if your carpets are not nasty yukky, it can be cleaned without using it, and thats the way to go.
